What the bank said

The Board said it continued the rate-cutting cycle taking into account the exchange rate, the weakness of economic activity and the level of monetary restriction already implemented.

It said headline inflation rose from 3.77% to 4.63% between the first fortnights of January and March because of its non-core component, while core inflation was practically unchanged at 4.46%.

It judged that the monetary policy stance attained was adequate to face the challenges of an extension and escalation of the Middle Eastern conflict.

Guidance. The Board said it would evaluate the appropriateness and timing of an additional rate cut depending on macroeconomic and financial conditions.
