What the bank said

The Committee said the underlying trend of inflation, which rose in April partly because of higher energy prices, decreased slightly in May.

It said energy prices remained volatile and elevated amid geopolitical uncertainty.

The Committee said first-quarter data pointed to slower economic activity and leading indicators to continued weak domestic demand.

Guidance. The Committee said decisions would be made prudently meeting by meeting and that it would tighten in case of a significant and persistent deterioration in the inflation outlook.
