What the bank said

The MPC said the conflict in West Asia had severely disrupted global supply chains and added risk to both the inflation and growth outlooks, describing the situation as a supply shock.

It noted headline inflation rose to 3.2% in February 2026 under the new CPI series and projected CPI inflation of 4.6% for 2026-27, with elevated energy prices and possible El Niño conditions as upside risks.

The MPC judged it prudent to wait and watch the evolving growth-inflation outlook while remaining vigilant.

Guidance. The MPC said it kept the neutral stance to retain the flexibility to respond judiciously to incoming information.
