What the bank said

The Committee said headline and underlying inflation had risen further from target, with Focus expectations at 4.9% for 2026 and its own projection for the fourth quarter of 2027 at 3.5%.

It said the prolonged contractionary Selic had provided evidence of transmission to the economic slowdown, allowing it to proceed with the calibration cycle while adjusting its pace and extension to new information.

Guidance. The Committee said future calibration steps would incorporate new information on the depth and duration of the Middle East conflicts and their effects on prices.

“the Committee reaffirms serenity and cautiousness in the conduction of monetary policy”
