What the bank said

The MPC said CPI inflation had fallen to 2.6% but was expected to rise later in the year as higher energy prices passed through.

It said there was little evidence so far of second-round effects and clear signs of underlying disinflation, while judging the risks to inflation tilted to the upside relative to the July Monetary Policy Report.

Guidance. The Committee said it stands ready to act as necessary to ensure that CPI inflation remains on track to meet the 2% target in the medium term.

Dissent

Megan Greene, Catherine L Mann and Huw Pill voted to raise Bank Rate by 0.25 percentage points, to 4%.
