What the bank said

The Executive Board said the war in the Middle East had caused major movements in energy prices and financial markets and was expected to dampen growth and push up CPIF inflation in the near term.

It said underlying inflation had been unexpectedly low in recent outcomes and that conditions for the Swedish recovery to continue remained fundamentally favourable.

The Board judged the current rate and an unchanged forecast to be a well-balanced policy, with underlying inflation expected in line with 2% around the turn of the year.

Guidance. The Riksbank said the rate is expected to stay at this level for some time, but that it would raise it if the war led to a broader, more persistent rise in inflation and cut it if demand weakened and inflation pressures eased.

“The Riksbank monitors developments closely and will adjust monetary policy if the outlook for inflation and economic activity so requires.”
