What the bank said

The SNB said inflation had risen from 0.6% in May to 0.8% in August, driven mainly by higher prices for oil products, while medium-term inflationary pressure had increased only slightly.

It said its conditional forecast was higher than in June, partly reflecting the weakening of the Swiss franc, but remained within the range of price stability at 0.7% for 2026 and 0.8% for 2027 and 2028.

The SNB judged that monetary policy was appropriate to keep inflation within that range and supported economic development.

Guidance. The SNB said it remained willing to be active in the foreign exchange market as necessary to ensure appropriate monetary conditions.
