What the bank said

The Board said it assessed the exchange rate, the absence of demand-related pressures in the economy and the level of monetary restriction implemented.

It said headline inflation fell to 3.10% and core inflation to 3.95% in the first fortnight of July, but both were now expected to decline more gradually than previously anticipated.

It said headline inflation was expected to converge to the 3% target in the fourth quarter of 2027, and that the economy had reactivated in the second quarter after contracting in the first.

Guidance. The Board said it expected it would be appropriate to keep the reference rate at its current level.

“both headline and core inflation are still expected to decline throughout the forecast horizon, albeit more gradually than previously anticipated”
