What the bank said

The Board of Governors said the decision aimed to strengthen Rupiah exchange rate stabilisation amid persistently high global financial market uncertainty.

It noted that CPI inflation rose to 3.55% in January 2026 from 2.92%, mainly because of the base effect of a 50% household electricity tariff discount in early 2025, while core inflation stayed low at 2.45%.

Guidance. The Bank said it would continue to consider room for further BI-Rate reductions, with inflation forecast to stay within the 2.5%±1% corridor in 2026-2027.
