What the bank said

The Board of Governors said the decision was consistent with making interest rate adjustments to its monetary instruments more effective in bolstering Rupiah stability amid deteriorating global conditions triggered by the war in the Middle East.

It noted that CPI inflation fell to 3.48% in March 2026 from 4.76%, with core inflation down to 2.52%.

The Bank said it was intensifying foreign exchange interventions offshore and onshore and strengthening the interest rate structure of its instruments to attract foreign portfolio inflows.

Guidance. The Bank said it was prepared to strengthen monetary policy further, as required, to keep the Rupiah stable and inflation within the 2.5% ± 1% corridor in 2026 and 2027.
