What the bank said

The Bank Board said core inflation had stayed elevated at just below 3% for six months without a downward tendency, and that sufficiently tight policy could lower it.

It said the updated forecast showed a risk of inflation temporarily rising slightly in late 2026 and early 2027.

It cited accelerating credit growth, debt-financed public spending, a tight labour market with rapid wage growth, and rising services prices as sources of inflationary pressure.

Guidance. The Bank Board said it would base decisions on newly available data and consider further actions very carefully.

“Core inflation has remained elevated at just below 3% for six months without showing a downward tendency.”
