What the bank said

The Bank Board said the June rate increase had brought about the desired tightening of monetary conditions.

It said core inflation had stayed just below 3% for eight months without a significant downward tendency, and the new forecast put inflation at 2% on average this year and 2.5% next year.

It noted that the forecast for GDP growth this year had been lowered from 2.5% to 2.2%.

Guidance. The Bank Board said its main strategy now is a period of assessing new data, the outlook, inflationary risks and the effect of the monetary restriction.

“The rate increase at the previous meeting brought about the desired tightening of monetary conditions.”
